What are Bodywraps?Bodywrapping is used to supposedly help in healing a wide-range of skin problems, including toning & tightening, circulation, muscle and joint pain, acne, and disintegrating fat so that it can be organically expelled from the body. The attractiveness of bodywraps lies in their simplicity; no fancy equipment or technology is needed. If you own a mixing bowl, an ability to warm basic ingredients and long, thin towels or sheets, you can reduce your cellulite in the comfort of your own home. Body wraps work in two stages: absorption and squeezing. First, absorption occurs when a pore-opening substance, such as sea clay, seaweed, herbal, mineral and/or aloe vera, is applied over the area you wish to reduce cellulite. Then, the thin towels or sheets are wrapped around that body area, so that wastes and excess fluids can be “absorbed” through the wraps. The effectiveness of the session depends upon the integrity of the ingredients applied. Generally, more inches will be lost with a more “absorbent” product, but it will your skin feeling less hydrated than using other ingredients. For example, sea clay is very “absorbent” but it leaves the skin feeling very dry for at least 24 hours after the treatment finishes. Second, the body wraps (the towels or sheets used) will squeeze the body part and squeeze together any empty cell "pockets". Since cellulite is thought to be caused by congested fat cells, “squeezing” underlying tissues together after the releasing unnecessary fluids should cause those cells to shrink and diminish. Even by maintaining your body's cells in this more compacted state for a short duration encourages the body's cells to readjust and configure themselves in accordance to their new shape. Since heavy perspiration is common when receiving a body wrap, it is advisable to drink lots of water before, during, and after the body wrap to maintain proper hydration. |
